Enfo is a Nordic IT service company offering business solutions, financial processes and managed IT services. Enfo currently employs around 1,000 IT professionals, with its main offices and service centers located in Finland and Sweden.

Partnering with Lenovo
Enfo provides comprehensive business solutions and IT services that support its clients’ digitalization initiatives. To ensure it can provide the flexible cloud and data center services that clients demand, Enfo chose to invest in high-performance Lenovo Flex System servers.

Pentti Saastamoinen, Manager, IT Transformation, Data Center at Enfo, comments: “As well as providing fully-managed IT services, we also offer colocation services. We support mission-critical workloads for many clients, so we must make sure that we keep operations running 24/7.”

To ensure round-the-clock availability, Enfo implemented a Lenovo Flex System solution at its data center in Kuopio, Finland, along with Lenovo storage solutions and Lenovo RackSwitch networking technology . Enfo uses Lenovo XClarity to manage its IT environment.

Juha Kukka, Digital Evangelist & Strategic Architect at Enfo, says: “Lenovo is one of our most important technology partners. With the Lenovo Flex System solutions, we’ve gained a very reliable, easily scalable infrastructure to support our cloud and data center services.”

Fast, flexible foundation
The Lenovo Flex System boasts powerful Intel® Xeon® E5 processors, Intel Turbo Boost Technology, Hyper-Threading, and QuickPath interconnects, all of which help provide Enfo improve scalability and performance compared to its previous infrastructure.

Tomi Mannikainen, Client Technical Sales at Lenovo Finland, says: “Being able to add more compute nodes as and when needed enables Enfo to meet its client’s changing needs. Lenovo delivers pre-configured and tested servers, making the whole process very easy for Enfo.”

Pentti Saastamoinen remarks: “Using standardized server models means that we don’t have to wait long for them to be delivered and know just what we’re getting. Adding Lenovo Flex System compute nodes to the chassis couldn’t be faster or easier, which means that we can rapidly scale up to meet changes in demand. The sheer scalability of the Lenovo Flex System means we have a future-proof infrastructure in place that we can expand as we grow.”

Lenovo XClarity software consolidates and streamlines systems management across all of Enfo’s Lenovo hardware solutions. Tomi Mannikainen comments: “Using Lenovo XClarity to manage systems significantly reduces the need for manual intervention.”

Efficient, reliable, cost-effective
Today, about 3,000 virtual machines run on Enfo’s Lenovo infrastructure.

Pentti Saastamoinen says: “The Lenovo systems are extremely reliable and enable us to provide high levels of availability to our clients. We’ve never experienced any kind of hardware failure that would impact client services.”

He adds: “The Lenovo solutions are very cost-effective, and we have a great relationship with the local team. We’ve had a great experience with Lenovo support services.”

Looking to the future, Enfo is keen to take advantage of Lenovo’s next-generation data center solutions to further improve availability, reliability, scalability and performance. In particular, the company is interested in Lenovo’s software-defined storage and hyperconverged technologies.

Pentti Saastamoinen concludes: “Thanks to Lenovo Flex System, we can provide our clients with scalable, flexible, high-performance services. We’re looking forward to working with Lenovo in the years to come.”
