Lenovo and Intel to Deliver Powerful, Energy Efficient Next-Generation Supercomputer to Leibniz Supercomputing Center

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK – December 14, 2017 – Lenovo (HKSE: 992) (ADR: LNVGY) Data Center Group and Intel will deliver a next-generation supercomputer to Leibniz Supercomputing Centre (LRZ) of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences in Munich, Germany. One of the foremost European computing centers for professionals in the scientific, research and academic communities, LRZ is tasked with managing not only exponential amounts of big data, but processing and analyzing that data quickly to accelerate research initiatives around the world. For example, the LRZ recently completed the world’s largest simulation of earthquakes and resulting tsunami’s, such as the Sumatra-Andaman Earthquake. This research enables real-time scenarios planning that can help predict aftershocks and other seismic hazards.

Lenovo Accelerates Artificial Intelligence Initiatives to Solve Humanity’s Greatest Challenges

DENVER – November 14, 2017Today, at Supercomputing 2017 (SC17), Lenovo (HKSE: 992) (ADR: LNVGY) Data Center Group announced new initiatives designed to empower customers to embrace Artificial Intelligence (AI) and make it a true reality for their organizations to achieve augmented intelligence capabilities for increased productivity and transformative results. Widely considered a strategic priority, 76 percent of respondents in a recent survey indicated that AI is fundamental to the success of their operation’s strategy, while 64 percent cited the technology as fundamental to their organization’s long-term growth. At the same time, it’s expected that there will be 44 trillion gigabytes of data in existence by 2020. Combined, this creates a need for deep learning and inference capabilities, built on a foundation of high performance computing (HPC) infrastructure, that can process this information, generate new, actionable insights and underpin key business and scientific advancements.
