Aspial Corporation Limited began more than 50 years ago with a single jewelry store in Singapore. Today, the company, which manages a diverse portfolio of businesses spanning jewelry, retail, financial services, hospitality and more, includes the largest pawnbroker in Singapore and two leading property development companies. Its workforce relies on digital tools to deliver high-quality customer service.

As Aspial continued to grow and diversify its portfolio, the company sought a more scalable way to equip employees with modern workplace technology. The company needed modern, high-performing devices that could support key business applications, including the company’s custom-developed POS system, which runs on laptops and PCs in its retail stores, along with analytics tools used by its financial services arm.

Simon Phai, IT Infrastructure Lead, Aspial, said: “Aspial is focused on delivering continued value to our customers and stakeholders, while pursuing innovation and sustainable growth in our region. IT is a crucial foundation supporting these goals, so ensuring we have a simple and cost-effective way to access and manage modern devices is vital across the business.”

Not just a typical hardware refresh

Aspial looked for a solution that could provide employees with up-to-date technology while simplifying deployment, support and lifecycle management for internal IT teams. After evaluating options from several leading technology providers, the company selected Lenovo TruScale Device as a Service (DaaS).

Unlike traditional device purchasing models, Lenovo’s offering provides Aspial with a subscription-based approach that combines devices, deployment, support, lifecycle management and recovery services in a single scalable solution. With Lenovo TruScale DaaS, Aspial can modernize employee technology while reducing operational complexity for IT teams.

Rather than purchasing and managing devices in-house, Aspial now uses a flexible subscription-based service that covers the entire device lifecycle. Working with Lenovo, the company rapidly replaced aging hardware with 500 new Lenovo ThinkPad™ business laptops, including ThinkPad X1 Carbon, ThinkPad T14s and ThinkPad E14 devices. The updated devices improved responsiveness for business-critical applications and equipped employees with faster, more reliable technology for day-to-day operations.

Lenovo Custom Imaging Services pre-installed Aspial’s key business applications before deployment, while Lenovo Premier Support for Devices gives the company frictionless access to support including phone, chat, AI Agent and eticket. This gets users back to full productivity faster, while business day onsite support also gets Aspial back to business quickly. Aspial is also using Lenovo Asset Recovery Services to securely decommission and recycle devices.

Phai added: “Lenovo TruScale DaaS makes perfect sense for Aspial. Each month, we pay a single fee for the devices we need – and it’s easy to adjust the number of devices depending on our requirements. It was clear that the simplicity of Lenovo’s offering was the perfect fit, reducing the time IT teams spend on purchasing and disposing of devices while ensuring employees are equipped with powerful technology.”

Rakshit Ghura, Vice President and General Manager of Digital Workplace Solutions at Lenovo, said: “For growing organizations, having a device management model that suits their needs is a key ingredient for enabling the business move faster and better respond to change. Aspial’s use of Lenovo TruScale DaaS shows how a flexible, full-lifecycle model can help IT teams modernize employee technology, reduce capital complexity and scale support across diverse operations.”

App performance improved by 80% and time freed up for growth

Aspial has now replaced legacy employee devices with Lenovo device solutions that support customer-facing operations more effectively. The company has seen up to 80% faster application performance for end users, improving responsiveness for point-of-sale (POS) systems in its retail business and analytics tools used by its financial services teams.

Beyond improving application performance, Lenovo TruScale DaaS has given Aspial a more flexible approach to managing employee technology costs. Instead of tying up capital in device purchases, the company now benefits from predictable monthly spending and greater flexibility to scale technology as the business grows.

Lenovo’s deployment, support and recovery services also helps reduce hands-on device management for Aspial’s IT teams. With applications pre-installed before delivery and 24/7 technical support available, employees can get up and running faster while IT teams spend less time managing routine device tasks – and more time supporting key business operations and employee experience. Combined with Lenovo ThinkPad devices, Lenovo TruScale DaaS gives the company a scalable model for supporting teams across its expanding business portfolio.

Phai said: “I’ve used laptops from many different vendors over the years, and I think that Lenovo ThinkPad deserves its strong reputation for reliability, performance and build quality. Lenovo gives us powerful technology, committed people and strong support services, and we continue to be very satisfied with the Lenovo TruScale solution.”
