When a major transport hub in Asia Pacific announced plans for a new large-scale automated parking environment, DKSH Hong Kong saw an opportunity to expand its growing smart infrastructure portfolio. As a trusted partner that markets, sells and distributes high-quality products and brands for multinational and Fortune 500 companies across Asia Pacific, Europe and North America, DKSH recognized that winning and delivering a project of this scale would require sophisticated infrastructure, specialist expertise, and a way to manage the financial and operational complexities.

The project was one of the largest smart parking opportunities in the region. Designed to help the transport hub accommodate growing passenger demand while maximizing parking capacity, the deployment relies on a robotic parking system capable of automatically transporting vehicles from designated parking cabins to available bays.

For DKSH, the venture represented a chance to pursue a landmark smart infrastructure deployment and strengthen its position in a growing market. Delivering that vision required high-performance infrastructure to support its proprietary smart parking software, automated license plate recognition and parking guidance systems, along with the expertise and services needed to ensure successful implementation.

The company also wanted a flexible model that would allow it to move quickly, scale with project requirements and remain focused on creating an exceptional experience for the transport hub and its passengers.

Turning a complex opportunity into a winning bid

In Hong Kong, DKSH has established a strong reputation for delivering smart parking projects on time and within budget. When the transport hub released its tender, the company saw an opportunity to combine its proprietary parking software, project integration expertise, together with robust infrastructure and services to create a compelling proposal.

DKSH’s Business Unit Technology leveraged its expertise in smart infrastructure, software integration and project delivery to develop a comprehensive solution for the transport hub.

To strengthen its bid, DKSH evaluated several technology vendors. Beyond infrastructure, Lenovo brought consulting expertise, implementation support and lifecycle services that helped DKSH plan and execute the deployment with confidence.

Using Lenovo TruScale Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), DKSH gained access to enterprise-grade infrastructure, deployment expertise, and lifecycle services through a flexible pay-as-you-go model. This approach enabled the company to pursue a major business opportunity while reducing upfront risk and maintaining flexibility to adapt as project requirements evolved.

Keith Ling, General Manager, Technical Sales and Services, Technology, DKSH Hong Kong, said, “Together with Lenovo, we’re helping deliver one of the most advanced smart parking environments in our region, combining DKSH’s smart parking expertise and software capabilities with Lenovo TruScale Infrastructure as a Service to support a smoother experience for travelers and more efficient operations for the transport hub.”

Bringing infrastructure, expertise and support together

Lenovo provided consulting, implementation support, lifecycle services and ongoing operational assistance. This gave DKSH access to specialist expertise throughout the project, while allowing the company to focus its resources on delivering value to the transport hub.

The deployment also runs on Lenovo ThinkSystem SR650 V2 and SR250 V2 servers and Lenovo ThinkStation P360 Tower workstations, providing the performance required to support DKSH’s smart parking applications and operational systems.

To help maintain reliable parking operations once the environment goes live, the deployment is backed by Lenovo Premier Support and 24/7 remote monitoring services. This helps DKSH and the transport hub reduce the risk of service disruption in a high-traffic environment while giving operations teams greater confidence in long-term system availability.

For DKSH, the value of the model extends beyond financing. By combining infrastructure, services and operational support, Lenovo TruScale gives the company the confidence to pursue larger and more complex opportunities in the future.

“Organizations pursuing large infrastructure projects need more than technology – they need a model that helps them move quickly, manage complexity and stay focused on customer outcomes,” said Linda Yao, VP and GM, Hybrid Cloud & AI Solutions at Lenovo. “With Lenovo TruScale, DKSH delivered a complex deployment with confidence and created long-term value for its customer.”

By bringing together technology, services and ongoing support within a single solution, Lenovo TruScale IaaS also helps DKSH focus more resources on innovation and customer delivery rather than day-to-day infrastructure management.

Building a foundation for future growth

The smart parking project is now well underway, with DKSH and Lenovo deploying the infrastructure required to support the new automated parking environment. Once operational, the system will help streamline vehicle handling and support a smoother passenger experience as vehicles are automatically transported to available parking bays.

As DKSH continues to expand its smart infrastructure portfolio, Lenovo TruScale provides a scalable foundation to help the company pursue future opportunities with greater confidence, flexibility and speed.

Keith Ling said, “We don’t see Lenovo as just another hardware vendor. They are a trusted solution provider. From the design stage onward, the Lenovo team worked side-by-side with us to help deliver the best solution for our client.”
