Lenovo Expands U.S. Global Headquarters, NC Footprint
Record-setting year fuels employee growth and need for extra space
RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. (BUSINESS WIRE), June 22, 2012 - Lenovo, the world’s second largest PC company, announced today the expansion of its U.S. global headquarters at 5221 Paramount Parkway, located in Morrisville’s Perimeter Park office complex. The addition of two floors and 70,000 square feet in Building 3 on the three-building campus will accommodate the company’s recent surge in growth, fueled by strong performance in North America and markets around the world.
In the first quarter of 2012, Lenovo achieved its highest yet global PC market share of 13.1 percent, rising 43.7 percent compared to the year prior. Increased consumer demand for PC+ devices, including Ultrabooks™ and tablets helped drive year-over-year growth in North America of 29.9 percent compared to a market decline of 2.5 percent (Source: IDC).
“We owe our success to the people behind our company, who are among the best and brightest minds in the industry,” said Rob Cones, vice president and Morrisville site executive, Lenovo. “This expansion not only gives our employees extra space to work, collaborate, and pioneer new ideas, it also positions us for future growth in North Carolina. A great work environment plays a critical part of our commitment of being a best place to work.”
Currently, the company occupies two nearby buildings and the first floor of 5221 Paramount Parkway. Approximately 2,000 employees work throughout the campus, which serves as Lenovo’s U.S. Global headquarters, with co-headquarters focused on research and development in Beijing.
Lenovo will use the additional office space to accommodate overcrowding in the existing buildings and to provide growth space for recently-hired and yet-to-be-hired employees. Employees will move into the space starting in July.
