Lenovo Statement on Latest IDC Smartphone Report

IDC data on the global smartphone market for 2Q2014, shows the worldwide market increased 23%, while Lenovo strongly outpaced with a 39% increase. Lenovo remained number 4 while it narrowed the gap with Apple and Samsung.

Beijing, July 24, 2014 --- Lenovo today unveiled New Business Development (NBD), a new internet-centric business platform in China aimed at startups. The first wave of three innovative smart devices under NBD has also been launched, namely the new glass smart glasses, the new air smart air cleaner and the newifi smart router.

Clarification on Lenovo Statement on Sales of Small Screen Windows-Based Tablets

We will continue to bring new Windows devices to market across different screen sizes, including a new 8-inch tablet and 10-inch tablet coming this holiday. Our model mix changes as per customer demand, and although we are no longer selling ThinkPad 8 in the U.S., and we have sold out of Miix 8-inch, we are not getting out of the small-screen Windows tablet business as was reported by the media. In short, we will continue to sell both 8 and 10 inch Windows tablets in both the U.S. and non-U.S markets.

Lenovo and the National Academy Foundation Launch Lenovo Scholar Network for Next-Generation STEM Leaders

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC – July 9, 2014: Lenovo today announced a new agreement with the National Academy Foundation (NAF) to bring a robust mobile app development curriculum and delivery program to NAF academies in the United States. The two organizations will provide innovative curriculum and technology to provide exposure and encourage interest among high school students in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math). This program, now called Lenovo Scholar Network, builds on a successful 2012 pilot where high school students from five NAF IT academies across the United States created and launched apps, some of which are now available to the public on Google Play.
