RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC – September 30, 2010: Lenovo (HKSE: 992) (ADR: LNVGY) today announced that Universum has included Lenovo in its annual list of the world’s most attractive employers and has been recognized as one of the world’s Top 50 engineering companies to work for. The rankings from Universum, an employer branding company with headquarters in Sweden, are based on where students from top academic institutions around-the-world say they most want to work. Universum’s global talent attraction index is based upon feedback from approximately 130,000 business and/or engineering career seekers worldwide.
“This recognition is a tribute to the success of both our company and to the work we’ve done to develop our company’s culture as we strive every day to get — and keep — the world’s top talent,” said Ken DiPietro, senior vice president, Human Resources, Lenovo. “Recognition such as this means that the next generation of business leaders sees Lenovo as a great place to build a global career and is indicative of our progress as we drive Lenovo toward our goal of becoming an employer of choice.”
Universum’s global talent attraction index is based upon the number of nominations by career seekers in 12 of the world’s largest economies for companies they would most like to work for.
The survey indicates the companies that are top-of-mind employers and to what extent, and are
therefore the companies that may have a competitive advantage in attracting new talent.
The Stockholm-based Universum compiles two lists: one for the top business employer and one for the top engineering employer. This is the first-time that Lenovo has appeared on Universum’s global talent index, an achievement recognized by Universum.
“An interesting sign of things to come is that for the first-time ever, there is a Chinese company in the top 50 – Lenovo number 44 among engineers,“ said Michal Kalinowski, CEO, Universum.
Added Lovisa Ohnell, research and consulting director, Universum, “Regarding the career seekers in the engineering field, potential hires find companies that are innovative and produce exciting products and services to be attractive employers nowadays.”
