NEW YORK – September 17, 2008:  At the Interop show today, Lenovo announced the latest additions to its ThinkVision monitor portfolio that pioneer a new level of energy-efficiency for PC displays.  Delivering outstanding performance, the new ThinkVision L1700p, L1940 Wide, L1940p Wide, L2240p Wide, L2440p Wide and L2440x Wide monitors use 30-60 percent less energy than previous ThinkVision models[1], are EPEAT Gold rated and GREENGUARD certified, and include packaging for select models with 65 percent recycled materials.

“During past PC/Monitor refresh cycles, the ability to cut down energy costs was associated with the transition from power-hungry CRTs to less energy consuming LCD monitors,” said Chris Connery, vice president, PC and Large Format Commercial Displays, DisplaySearch. “The reduction in power consumption by new displays such as Lenovo’s new LCD ThinkVision monitors is significant in terms of the potential longer term effect on the environment.  Lenovo has certainly taken a leadership position in introducing the most robust line of energy-efficient LCD monitors that the industry has seen to date.”

The new line-up includes the flagship ThinkVision L2440x Wide monitor, Lenovo’s first 24-inch, low-halogen display that provides up to 225 percent more work area than many ultraportable notebook screens[2].  Using highly efficient White LED backlight technology, the L2440x Wide requires only 29 watts of power to operate[3].  In addition to providing exceptional picture quality, the L2440x Wide is mercury and arsenic free for a safer computing experience in environments such as offices, stores, classrooms and homes.

Lenovo’s latest ThinkVision monitors boast new and enhanced features, such as:

  • A new display design on select models uses LCD light more efficiently, decreasing the number of light tubes in each monitor without impacting picture quality[4].
  • A new ergonomic stand is available on select models to provide customizable heights, pivot and swivel options with a stable base, so the monitors do not tip or shake and can comfortably fit in any work space.  The new stand also provides an improved enclosure design that enables quick set-up and streamlined cable management[5].
  • New environmentally-responsible packaging for the ThinkVision L2240p Wide, L2440p Wide and L2440x Wide monitors consists of 65 percent recycled materials that are 100 percent recyclable.

The Lenovo ThinkVision family is the most robust line-up of environmentally-rated monitors, designed to offer customers more opportunities to reduce their carbon footprint without compromising functionality.  The new Lenovo ThinkVision monitors meet criteria regarding product longevity, material selection, end-of-life management and more to maintain a “Gold” rating according to the Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT), a system that helps purchasers evaluate PC products based on their environmental attributes.  The new ThinkVision monitors have passed extensive GREENGUARD testing for more than 2,000 chemical emissions including carcinogens, allergens and irritants.

“Today’s announcement heralds a new breed of monitors that will enrich our customers’ computing experiences,” said Tom Shell, vice president of visuals, Lenovo.  “We are committed to offering users environmentally-responsible technologies with 17 ThinkVision monitors that are EPEAT Gold rated, of which 11 are also GREENGUARD certified.  Our latest additions to the ThinkVision family provide outstanding functionality and a lower total cost of ownership, and will help them reduce their carbon footprint.”

Lenovo’s new ThinkVision monitors offer contrast ratios of up to 1000:1, five millisecond response time and 1920×1200 resolution for an especially crisp image.  Select models include four high-speed USB ports[6] and DisplayPort[7] for added flexibility.

Lenovo’s new line of ThinkVision monitors will be showcased at Interop New York, September 17-18, 2008.  For a demo and more information at the show, visit Lenovo’s booth, No. 817.
