The CIO 100 Awards, IDG’s annual awards that celebrate 100 organizations and teams that are using IT in an innovative way to deliver business value, has named Lenovo as a 2020 CIO 100 award honoree for excellence in digital transformation. The awards recognize innovative organizations around the world that exemplify the highest level of operational and strategic excellence in IT – including those that have created competitive advantage, optimized business processes, enabled growth or improved relationships with customers.

Lenovo’s winning project was the Consumer Digital/Intelligent Transformation (DX/IX) program that utilizes data and AI technology to drive the company’s consumer business transformation in the China market. The team developed cloud-based, AI-empowered technologies that strengthened consumer engagement and enhanced retail store operating capabilities. The solution included an innovative customer loyalty program platform that enabled an online-offline merge (OMO) for individual customer personalization across retail stores and eCommerce, as well as deep customer analytics. The results have included growth in the number of users, revenue, sales per store and increased operational efficiency.

Liu Jun, Executive Vice President of Lenovo Group and President of Lenovo China, commended the strides Lenovo is making particularly in improving customers’ experiences. “It’s a great honor to receive the IDG CIO 100 award and it encourages us to continue delivering great results along our journey of transformation. Lenovo China has been focusing on two major transformations: customer-centric transformation and Intelligent Transformation,” he said. “The implementation of our direct to consumer model has shown strong performance in business making it a real forerunner in this journey. This inspiring result cannot be achieved without close cooperation of business and IT. In the future, we will keep strengthening the business-IT engine. At the same time, we’d love to export our experiences and abilities to empower more enterprises to be successful in their transformation journey and help them create more value for their customers.”

“In today’s digital era, IT has moved away from the traditional back-office mindset. Instead, we’re shifting more to a business partner model of working together to define how business ideas and technology can meet in new and exciting ways,” said Arthur Hu, Senior Vice President and Chief Investment Officer of Lenovo Group.

“Today’s most successful companies are using IT to deliver business value, whether by enabling growth, optimizing business processes, or improving relationships with customers. We are honored to showcase the technology innovation shown by this year’s CIO 100 winners,” said Adam Dennison, SVP & General Manager, IDG Events and Publisher, CIO.
