Yolanda Lee Conyers, Chief Diversity Officer, Lenovo

MORRISVILLE, October 28, 2019 – Every day, we hear the stories of extraordinary people whose lives have been transformed through technology – including the story of Haben Girma, the first deafblind graduate of Harvard Law School and advocate for people with disabilities.

Today, we are honored to announce Haben as our first Accessibility and Inclusion Advisor.

Haben travels the world teaching individuals and organizations how inclusion is an opportunity for innovation. This passion for inclusion aligns perfectly with our vision at Lenovo – to create a world that delivers Smarter Technology for All and a digital future that is inclusive of everyone, everywhere.

Haben has been a leading voice for those living with disabilities and has shared her personal experiences  in her recent autobiography, Haben: The Deafblind Woman Who Conquered Harvard Law, by Haben Girma, published earlier this year. Since its release, the book has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, People, and on The TODAY Show. It is a New York Times “New & Noteworthy” Pick, and an O Magazine “Book of the Month” favorite.

Among her many accomplishments, President Obama named her a White House Champion of Change. She received the Helen Keller Achievement Award. She made the Forbes 30 Under 30 list, and President Bill Clinton, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and Chancellor Angela Merkel have honored her accomplishments and efforts.

As our Accessibility and Inclusion Advisor, Haben will be an external consultant working with Lenovo to help us develop more accessible, smarter technology products for all, creating greater awareness for the disabled community and helping promote a more inclusive society.

She will provide ongoing counsel to our leadership and teams around strategic initiatives, help further our commitment to diversity and inclusion initiatives, offer guidance on inclusive product design and development, and help us meet the needs of our diverse employee and customer base.

Haben’s expertise and unique insights will help Lenovo accelerate its vision for a more inclusive digital society through Smarter Technology for All to create better experiences and opportunities for Lenovo’s employees, partners and customers.
