Lenovo and Nutanix Launch New HX 2000 Hyperconverged Solution for SMBs

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK – May 24, 2016 – Extending its market reach and bringing the benefits of hyperconverged infrastructure to a wider set of customers, Lenovo (HKSE: 992) today unveiled a new offering in its Converged HX Series portfolio tailored specifically for small- to-medium sized businesses (SMB). The Converged HX 2000 integrates leading edge Nutanix Xpress software, also announced today, to deliver a simplified, cost effective solution that helps lower total-cost-of-ownership and enables SMBs to focus less time on infrastructure management.

Converged infrastructure is one of the top five IT priorities for nearly 65 million SMB organizations worldwide according to the SMB Group. While many data center solutions available today can meet the core needs of small and medium-sized businesses, they often can be too complex and expensive for these organizations to deploy. Lenovo’s HX 2000 Series, running the Nutanix Xpress edition software, is engineered to offer management simplicity, ease of growth and built-in data protection at an affordable price.

The Nutanix Xpress edition software in the HX 2000 Series appliances replaces the complexity of managing a separate storage area network (SAN) by aggregating compute, storage and connectivity into a common resource pool within the appliance. Xpress also provides one-click, non-disruptive upgrades that remove the effort and provide customers with complete peace of mind that they always have access to the latest capabilities and most secure environment for their IT infrastructure. In addition to native resiliency, the appliances also offer a built-in, simple back-up to either Amazon or Microsoft Azure cloud services through Cloud Connect. Lastly, the Xpress software edition supports multiple hypervisors and comes with the Acropolis hypervisor (AHV) included at no additional charge.

The HX 2000 Series appliances are equipped with next-generation Intel processors, DDR4 memory and tiered storage to provide enterprise-quality performance with the right built-in features in a scalable, power-efficient solution. The HX 2000 Series appliances are also compatible with Lenovo’s XClarity management software, which helps SMB IT professionals more easily manage the lifecycle of their infrastructure, and offers a single point of contact for support.

Lenovo’s HX 2000 Series appliances can be provisioned in just an hour or less and thus help simplify deployment and management. This is a critical consideration for SMB customers like local and city governments, K-12 school districts or small, regional hospitals and healthcare facilities that can’t afford downtime and don’t have extensive teams of IT specialists to manage their infrastructure.  With all software pre-installed and ready to run nearly all virtualized applications for small and medium businesses, customers will benefit from a fully integrated, turnkey solution that eliminates complicated IT integration and set-up, enabling SMBs to focus on running their businesses.

“The SMB space is routinely underserved when it comes to data center management,” said Radhika Krishnan, executive director and general manager, Converged Infrastructure & Networking, Data Center Group, Lenovo. “Traditionally, this segment has been dominated by complex, difficult to install solutions that do not adequately address the needs of smaller organizations for offerings that are easy to deploy and manage at affordable price levels. The HX 2000 Series combines power and reliability in an appliance that helps deliver a streamlined deployment and management process, as well as reduced cost of ownership.”

“Lenovo’s Converged HX 2000 Series appliances represents a significant step forward in our effort to provide simple, affordable hyperconverged technology to SMBs,” said Raja Mukhopadhyay, VP of Product Management, Nutanix. “Lenovo is a leader in providing high-quality, trusted and reliable enterprise-grade hardware and we are confident that the Lenovo HX 2000 Series, equipped with the Nutanix Xpress software edition, will offer much-needed performance and data center agility to SMBs without the hefty price tag.”

The Lenovo Converged HX 2000 Series appliances will be available July 2016 through certified Lenovo business partners, as well as by Lenovo’s broader enterprise sales teams. Please contact your local representative for more information.
