Widely respected corporate advisor joins as Lenovo navigates new challenges in mobile and enterprise
Hong Kong, September 18, 2015 – Today, Lenovo (HKSE: 992) (ADR: LNVGY) announced the appointment of Gordon Orr as non-executive director. In nearly 30 years at McKinsey & Company (“McKinsey”), Mr. Orr advised a wide range of clients, with a primary focus on China and technology-related sectors across Asia. Mr. Orr retired as McKinsey’s Asia Chairman in August and currently also serves as an independent non-executive director of Swire Pacific Limited, a Hong Kong listed company.

Mr. Orr’s appointment deepens Lenovo’s tradition of global balance and diversity at all levels of the company. Today, Lenovo’s board has 11 directors hailing from the U.S., China, the United Kingdom, and Japan, 7 nationalities among its top 12 executives, and its top 100 executives come from more than 20 different counties.
About Gordon Orr
Mr. Orr joined McKinsey in 1986 and held a broad range of senior positions in McKinsey until his retirement in August 2015. During the years with McKinsey, he was Greater China Managing Partner and subsequently Senior Partner (1999-2015), Managing Partner of McKinsey Asia (2008-2014) and Member of McKinsey’s global Operating Committee (2008-2015). He also served on McKinsey’s Global Shareholder’s Board (2003-2015) and chaired the Governance and Risk Committee.
Gordon is the author of several articles on topics such as corporate governance and the globalization of Asian companies, and is the founder of the Chinese-language edition of The McKinsey Quarterly. He is a frequent speaker at major business events such as the World Economic Forum’s Summer Davos in Dalian. He is the co-founder of the McKinsey Council of China Business Economists (MCCBE), a group comprised of leading economists dedicated to advancing the debate on critical economics issues in China.
Mr. Orr, 53, holds a Master of Arts degree in Engineering Science from Oxford University, United Kingdom and a Master of Business Administration degree from Harvard University, United States of America. After earning his MBA, Mr. Orr joined McKinsey’s London office in 1986, before moving to Asia in 1993.
