RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C – September 5, 2007 – Lenovo today set the bar for superior customer service even higher with the unveiling of the ThinkPad Reserve Edition notebook. The much-anticipated, leather-encased ThinkPad Reserve Edition includes ThinkPad’s best-engineered features and functionality at its core, amplified by a personalized service and support program, for an executive-level PC experience that is unlike any other.

Clad in hand-stitched, saddle-grade premium French leather, each Lenovo ThinkPad Reserve Edition notebook is individually numbered and comes with live, round-the-clock executive-class service and support. Each ThinkPad Reserve user is provided access to dedicated, specially-trained Executive Support staff, available at the touch of a button, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to support every aspect of the ThinkPad Reserve Edition computing experience.

“My ThinkPad Reserve Edition provides exceptional functionality, style and service to support my personal and professional agenda at any time and in any location,” said Rich Fennessy, President and CEO of Insight Enterprises, a leading IT solutions company with locations in 22 countries across the world. “If my computer freezes while waiting for my flight in Heathrow or a document becomes corrupted in a Beijing conference room, Lenovo will provide me immediate, personalized assistance and a solution no matter what it takes.”

ThinkPad Reserve Edition customers are provided with an Executive Welcome Service that begins with an initial one-on-one setup call between the customer and his or her dedicated Executive Support staff specialist. This support specialist helps ensure that the computer is set up to accommodate the personal preferences of each individual user. The Executive Support staff specialist accompanies the customer throughout the lifecycle of his or her ThinkPad Reserve Edition notebook PC, and handles everything the customer needs to get their PC up and running and to keep it that way.

For ongoing support, each owner is provided concierge phone access to the Executive Support staff, with all calls answered within four rings in the owner’s native language. Or the owner can press the ThinkVantage button on the keyboard and get a live electronic-chat connection to their support expert, who can also address needs through remote management of the computer as desired. If needed, a specially-trained technician will be at a customer’s location within four hours in 20 countries, and will even condition the leather exterior before departing. In the case of accidental loss, replacement machines will be shipped overnight, free of charge.

“The ThinkPad Reserve Edition was designed for the world’s most accomplished professionals, so it delivers the best ownership experience available. It combines expert personalized service, exquisite design and materials, and superior technology to surpass any notebook PC available today,” said Craig Merrigan, vice president of Branding and Strategy, Lenovo. “While only 5,000 ThinkPads will offer ‘Reserve’ status, this offering demonstrates Lenovo’s leadership the PC industry in delivering innovative design, technology, and services across all our offerings.”

The Lenovo ThinkPad Reserve Edition was created in celebration of the 15th anniversary of the iconic ThinkPad notebook. Since its creation in 1992, ThinkPad has built a tradition of excellence, and is trusted by the world’s most demanding professionals for its advanced capability, rugged durability and thoughtful design. Developed in close collaboration with world-renowned Richard Sapper, co-designer of the original ThinkPad notebook, the ThinkPad Reserve Edition represents another milestone of the ThinkPad user experience and a celebration of Lenovo customers’ professional success.

Absolute Security Not only is the ThinkPad Reserve Edition leather-clad, it’s iron-clad, too: the ThinkPad Reserve Edition demonstrates Lenovo’s commitment to keeping information secure in today’s business environment. Lenovo’s Client Security Solution, a unique hardware-software solution, manages passwords and encryption keys. ThinkPad Reserve Edition comes with new Full Disc Encryption drives as well, with advanced hardware-based encryption built-in to firmware on the drives.

Outstanding Performance on the Road The new ThinkPad Reserve Edition notebook provides the highest levels of wireless performance, data security and Intel® Centrino® Pro mobile technology for enhanced mobility. Users remain connected while on the road thanks to Lenovo’s acclaimed wireless design, Ultra Connect II, next generation antenna and optimized WAN performance for broadband connectivity outside the office. The ThinkPad Reserve Edition lasts up to seven hours with an eight-cell standard battery.
