Lenovo Earns Top Marks in 2019 Corporate Equality Index

For the second year running, Lenovo earns 100 percent on Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s 17th annual scorecard on LGBTQ Workplace Equality

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC – March 28, 2019 – Lenovo announced today that, for the second consecutive year, the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation gave the company a perfect score of 100 on the 2019 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), the nation’s premier benchmarking survey and report on corporate policies and practices related to LGBTQ workplace equality.

Lenovo joins the ranks of more than 560 major U.S. businesses that also earned designations as a Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality.

“The distinction of being a best-in-class workplace for the LGBTQ community is a great honor for us and a personal victory for me,” said Seth Smiley-Humphries, Director of Global Diversity for Lenovo. “Having experienced exclusion in the workplace early in my career for being gay, it’s something that we want to ensure never happens at Lenovo.”

The 2019 CEI evaluates LGBTQ-related policies and practices including non-discrimination, workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits, competency programs, and public engagement with the LGBTQ community.

“The top-scoring companies on this year’s CEI are not only establishing policies that affirm and include employees here in the United States, they are applying these policies to their global operations and impacting millions of people beyond our shores,” said HRC President Chad Griffin.

Lenovo recently released its first Global Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) Report detailing its ongoing commitment to increasing worldwide representation and opportunity. Lenovo offers progressive benefits to employees, including Gender Transition Support through medical, mental health, and pharmacy policies. This year, Lenovo celebrates the announcement of its new U.S. LGBTQ employee resource group (ERG) “PRIDE” – Professionals Respecting Identity, Diversity and Empowerment. Lenovo ERGs in the U.S. and Bratislava are regular participants in corporate and local events around LGBTQ celebrations.
