Beijing – June 21, 2018 – Today Lenovo announced it has joined Hyperledger, a leading global, open source collaborative project founded in 2015 by the Linux Foundation to advance cross-industry blockchain technologies.
Hyperledger enables organizations to build robust, industry-specific applications, platforms and hardware systems to support their individual business transactions by creating enterprise-grade, open source distributed ledger frameworks and code bases. More than 200 organizations from around the world, including leaders in finance, banking, IoT, supply chain, manufacturing and technology, are members of Hyperledger.
“Becoming a member of the Hyperledger community helps us explore all the possibilities blockchain opens up across industries,” said Dr. Yong Rui, Lenovo’s Chief Technology Officer and Senior Vice-President. “We have identified this emerging technology as a key element in our investment strategy for cloud-enabled technologies. Along with other members, Lenovo will help drive the development of Hyperledger as well as blockchain technologies and to build a global blockchain ecosystem so that this technology can benefit customers and the industry,” said Dr. Rui.
Lenovo has adopted blockchain technology in product development activities and is working to apply the solution to internal work processes.
In March 2018, Lenovo launched its new smartphone Lenovo S5, which uses blockchain technology to make payments more secure. Lenovo is also developing other technical research and proof-of-concept projects.
