RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C.–September 14, 2006 – Lenovo today announced a new version of the LANDesk® Management Suite that will, for the first time, provide users direct access to the full portfolio of Lenovo’s award-winning ThinkVantage Technologies. Designed to support IT departments, this new software will help empower businesses to take full advantage of managing their fleets of ThinkPad notebooks and ThinkCentre desktops, with immediate system updates and tracking across entire PC fleets.

ThinkVantage Technologies are tools that reduce PC users’ dependency on IT staff, thus increasing business productivity and lowering total cost of ownership. The new ThinkVantage Technologies supported by LANDesk Management Suite Version 8.7 include Client Security Software, Active Protection System, ThinkVantage System Update, Productivity Center and Absolute Software’s Computrace Integration. IT managers can now distribute more network updates to remote workers, maintain consistent images as users transition to new systems, and track assets to prevent them from being lost or stolen. The solution provides maximum flexibility by supporting all ThinkVantage Technologies deployed on Lenovo PCs as well as other vendors’ systems.

“Lenovo’s ThinkVantage Technologies help us to maintain the security of the thousands of PCs deployed campus-wide and reduce the students’ reliance on IT staff,” said Art Gloster, vice president of Information Services, Bryant University. “Our ability to natively manage those ThinkVantage Technologies through our LANDesk infrastructure saves our IT staff time on engineering, configuration and troubleshooting, and reduces related costs. These capabilities are essential to our ongoing endeavor as one of America’s most connected campuses.”

“LANDesk for ThinkVantage provides a true bird’s-eye-view for more accurate, secure and efficient fleet management for maximum PC performance and user productivity,” said Steve Petracca, vice president and general manager of Lenovo’s Software and Peripherals business unit. “Today’s launch extends that manageability to the IT team overseeing these systems, whether it’s a dozen in one city or thousands throughout the world.”

New Display Management Capabilities Increase Control for IT Departments Lenovo also announced today, support for Entech Taiwan’s OnScreen Manager™ (softOSM™), which enables PC displays to be self-configured, auto-rotated and tuned quickly and precisely to individual specifications. This display management capability is slated to ship with the next version of LANDesk Management Suite for ThinkVantage Technologies in December 2006. The integrated solution will allow customers to seamlessly manage all ThinkVantage Technologies including softOSM-managed displays through a common LANDesk for ThinkVantage interface.

Pricing and Availability LANDesk Management Suite 8.7 for ThinkVantage Technologies is available immediately via Lenovo or Lenovo business partners.
