Tuesday 14th March, 2017 – Lenovo (HK:992) (ADR:LNVGY) today announced the promotion of Francois Bornibus to President EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) effective 1st April 2017. Bornibus, currently VP and Chief Operating Officer Lenovo EMEA, will report to Luca Rossi who will continue to hold the overarching responsibility for both EMEA and Latin America markets.

In his new position, Bornibus will continue to execute Lenovo’s strategy and transformation initiatives to further strengthen Lenovo’s standing across EMEA and accomplish the ambitions of its three major Business engines:

  • Leverage Lenovo’s position as the leading PC manufacturer at Worldwide level to achieve the company’s ambition of becoming the number one PC vendor in EMEA together with continue to drive growth and capture share in the tablet market where Lenovo is currently  the solid number three vendor in EMEA.
  • Consolidate Lenovo’s position as the number three server vendor in EMEA and reinforce the position of Lenovo Data Center Group as a strong contender in the enterprise market by offering customers complete end-to-end solutions, including storage, server, networking, and related software and services.
  • Continue to support Motorola’s ambitions to bring the full portfolio to markets across EMEA in all price categories with focus on Mid-tier to Premium segments, and becoming a global top three player.

Commenting on the appointment of Francois Bornibus, Luca Rossi said: “Francois has a strong track-record within the EMEA business and an extensive understanding of Lenovo, driving outstanding results in a challenging market. Together we have set a great foundation that, with Francois’s leadership and experience, will ensure that Lenovo can continue to deliver on our strong business ambitions”.

Francois Bornibus has played a key role in contributing to Lenovo’s success in EMEA since taking the role of EMEA COO in 2012, more than doubling the company’s PC market share in the region from 10% to a record-high share of 21.1% and consolidating Lenovo’s position as a solid number two vendor in EMEA, closing the gap on the number one.

He also played a critical role in the transformation of the company following the acquisitions of Medion, the IBM System x division and Motorola Mobility, dramatically expanding the Lenovo business operations to become a leading technology company. He is a member of the Lenovo Global Leadership Team.

Before joining Lenovo he also held senior roles within other global companies – he was Vice President and General Manager of Nokia France and BeNeLux, President of Palm EMEA, Vice President of Eastern Europe and Africa for HP and Vice President for Compaq EMEA.

Francois holds an engineering degree in Electronics from the Ecole National Superieure d’Electronique et des Microtechniques and an MBA from the Institut d’Administration des Entreprises.
