Lenovo Offers Power and Portability with New 12″ Widescreen Notebook

RALEIGH, N.C., May 31, 2006 — Lenovo today unveiled its first ultraportable widescreen notebook PC, the Lenovo V100, designed for on-the-go small business customers seeking powerful performance in a modern design. Weighing a sleek 4.0 pounds(1) and sporting a 12.1-inch widescreen display, the V100 offers professionals on a limited budget powerful dual-core performance, easy and reliable connectivity, widescreen efficiencies and new multimedia features.

As with all Lenovo 3000 PCs, the V100 provides worry-free computing with a set of “Lenovo Care” productivity tools that help organize top tasks, most frequently used applications and help and support tools with the press of a button. Lenovo Care helps alleviate the need for a dedicated IT help desk by offering a central location for essential PC tasks such as:

The V100 is available with Intel Core™ Duo processors that efficiently run multiple programs simultaneously, such as business applications and virus scans. The V100 comes with an integrated optical drive for watching movies, playing music or installing software. It also offers complete connectivity features such as integrated 802.11 a/b/g wireless LAN and 10/100 Ethernet on all models, and Bluetooth on select models.

The V100 provides the ultimate mobile viewing experience with Lenovo’s VibrantView display which offers sharp contrast, crisp images, increased color depth and wider viewing angles. The 12.1-inch widescreen dimensions offer up to 20 percent more data space and approximately four more spreadsheet columns than a standard 12-inch display, increasing the viewing capability for a multitude of popular application formats, such as spreadsheets, charts, graphs and video. VibrantView also optimizes the multimedia experience by enabling users to view high-end graphic and video content in lowly lit environments. The V100’s widescreen, VibrantView display is complemented by Lenovo’s award-winning fully sized keyboard.(2)

“On-the-go business professionals today demand more from their notebook computers. They want performance, reliability and value, but they also want to have fun,” said Marc Godin, vice president of worldwide marketing, Lenovo’s notebook business unit. “As small business professionals become more mobile and proficient in the latest PC technologies, we want to give them the ultimate widescreen ultraportable computer that meets the needs of their business demands while providing a unique and fun computing environment. The V100 delivers with dual core performance, exceptional design features such as a full-sized keyboard and VibrantView display as well as its suite of Lenovo Care tools to help small business get ahead.” The V100 also incorporates a 5-in-1 multi-card reader for downloading digital pictures from multiple types of memory cards, three USB ports, a 1394 and VGA port. An integrated fingerprint reader for easier management of passwords is available in select models.
