RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC – October 3, 2011: Lenovo (HKSE: 992) (ADR: LNVGY) today announced that for the second year-in-row, Universum has included Lenovo in its annual list of the world’s most attractive employers, and has been recognized as one of the world’s Top 50 engineering companies to work for. The rankings from Universum, an employer branding company with headquarters in Sweden, are based on where students from top academic institutions around-the-world say they most want to work. Universum’s global talent attraction index is based upon feedback from approximately 160,000 business and/or engineering career seekers worldwide.
“As a $21 billion company, one of the key drivers to our success has been our consistent focus on developing and retaining the world’s top talent at every level of the Company, and as the Universam survey results have shown, Lenovo continues to be a global employer of choice,” said Gina Qiao, senior vice president, Human Resources. “Embedded in our corporate culture is an understanding that the investments we make today in our employees and helping them realize their potential as the possible leaders of tomorrow, is the best thing we can do to ensure Lenovo’s future success.”
Universum’s global talent attraction index is based upon the number of nominations by career seekers in 12 of the world’s largest economies for companies they would most like to work for.
The Stockholm-based Universum compiles two lists, one for the top business employer and one for the top engineering employer. The survey indicates the companies that are top-of-mind employers and to what extent, and are therefore the companies that may have a competitive advantage in attracting new talent.
“In a world where top-performing employees are becoming a scarce commodity, finding the right people is critical for business success. At a time when low birth rates and death rates are significantly shifting world demographics, the dilemma of the 21st century is not ‘Who will make up the workforce?’ but more importantly, ‘Who will own it?’ Lenovo’s position in our global index of talent attraction is a good sign that the company is ready for the future,” said William Wu, vice president, Universam Asia.
