BEIJING, December 4, 2007 – Lenovo today announced that its role as worldwide partner of the Olympic Games will conclude in December 2008, four months after the closing ceremonies of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

As the worldwide computing equipment partner, Lenovo is providing the technology backbone for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. The company is supplying more than 500 technicians and approximately 20,000 pieces of hardware infrastructure, including desktop and notebook PCs, servers and monitors, the largest hardware commitment to any Olympic Games in history. Lenovo successfully demonstrated the abilities of both its equipment and technicians during the Torino 2006 Olympic Winter Games and the company’s primary focus during the next nine months is the successful execution of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

Lenovo’s sponsorship of the Olympic Games in Torino and Beijing has helped the company build a global brand. As Lenovo grows, the company’s marketing strategy is evolving to pinpoint opportunities that serve strategic needs in targeted geographies. Lenovo is the first worldwide sponsor to design an Olympic Torch, having designed the Beijing 2008 Olympic Torch that will be carried around the world during the 2008 Olympic Torch Relay. Relying on the same design process used to engineer Lenovo PCs, the company’s design was selected over 300 competitors.
