Thomas Weisel Invests in ThinkPad Notebooks from Lenovo

San Francisco, September 29, 2005 – Lenovo today announced that investment bank Thomas Weisel Partners has deployed more than 400 ThinkPad notebooks throughout its offices nationwide to improve operational efficiencies, increase hardware reliability and reduce the total cost of ownership of its notebook PCs.

ThinkPad T42 and X40 notebooks from Lenovo allow Thomas Weisel Partners to create a reliable infrastructure in order to meet customer demands for instant information while keeping hardware reliability up and PC service and support costs down.

“Our clients look to us for our significant business proficiency and the most current financial data available to support their business decisions,” said Larry Sikon, Chief Information Officer at Thomas Weisel Partners. “Lenovo has offered the best value for a reliable notebook that is easy to manage and maintain. Our analysts, traders and other mobile users have access to the technology tools they need to get their job done. The return is evident through our operational efficiencies and customer satisfaction.”

In the financial services industry, access to real-time information is critical to support day-to-day client activities. Using ThinkPad notebooks, Thomas Weisel Partners’ analysts and traders can easily communicate product updates, accurately conduct transactions and effectively discuss banking and investment opportunities with clients in the office or on-the-go.

To strengthen security, Thomas Weisel Partners has equipped select ThinkPad notebooks with Utimaco Safeguard Easy, a hard-drive encryption software tool that helps protect against unauthorized user access in the event a notebook is stolen or lost as traders travel between various locations. Future PC deployments by the firm may also include ThinkPad notebooks with integrated fingerprint readers for an additional layer of access security and ease of password management.
