Based in Brazil, IT services company RGK4IT provides customized infrastructure, connectivity, and data management solutions to local businesses. The company works across various industries including finance, software, healthcare, oil and gas, manufacturing, government, and more. Being in the southern state of Paraná, RGK4IT its customers are hundreds of miles from most of Brazil’s cloud service providers and data centers in São Paolo and Rio de Janeiro. This significant distance results in higher latency for RGK4IT’s customers, affecting the performance of their IT systems. However, with ambitious thinking, the company transformed this challenge into an opportunity for rapid growth by seeking Lenovo’s assistance.

RGK4IT, founded in 2006, was built with a vision to deliver human-centric and responsible IT services. Located in Maringá, the third largest city in the state of Paraná, the company grew rapidly, with more than 720 local customers in the highly developed city known for its vibrant economy and strong business infrastructure. Recognizing the need for optimal performance, the company decided to build its own cloud infrastructure locally.

Alexander Duarte Rogoski, Projects Director at RGK4IT, highlighted the company’s ambition, “We aimed to change what we could offer our clients and potentially reach new business. Our goal is to deliver high-performance low-latency private cloud services to local businesses, which is why we set out to build our very own cloud infrastructure here in Maringá. To do that, we needed a dedicated hosting infrastructure in our own data center.”

The right partner

As a long-standing Lenovo Partner, RGK4IT had plenty of experience working with Lenovo technology, so it was natural to begin discussions with Lenovo about the practicalities of delivering private cloud services in Paraná. The Brazilian company chose to procure Lenovo TruScale Infrastructure as a Service (laaS) due to its comprehensive service features, including advisory, design, and implementation services, managed support, continuous monitoring, and more. This approach allowed RKG4IT to acquire cutting-edge Lenovo ThinkSystem SR650 V2 hardware with the flexibility and scalability of an as-a-Service business model.

Rogoski said, “It was good fortune on our part that Lenovo launched its TruScale offering around the time we decided to build our own cloud infrastructure.”

“For us, Lenovo TruScale laaS was an easy choice: it was by far the most commercially attractive proposal. We also benefited from faster delivery, as it took just 60 days for Lenovo to deliver the servers, which is impressive given the highly customized configuration of the hardware.”

Linda Yao, VP Hybrid Cloud and AI Solutions, at Lenovo said, “We worked closely with RGK4IT to design and build a solution that could deliver low-latency private cloud for its customers. The flexibility of Lenovo TruScale IaaS was key to this, enabling RGK4IT to rapidly build a solution for their customers without burdensome up-front costs. This enabled the company to grow its services rapidly.”

Delivering results

Lenovo helped both to design the data center for RKG4IT and with the physical installation. With Lenovo TruScale IaaS, RGK4IT further benefits from continuous monitoring, health checks and upgrades, along with Lenovo Premier Support and a dedicated customer success manager. The benefits were immediate and measurable for the company, with a radical reduction in costs overall. Using Lenovo TruScale IaaS, RGK4IT was able to move rapidly to deliver the low-latency, high-performance private cloud its customers demanded. The company has already deployed ten Lenovo ThinkSystem SR650 V2 servers hosting ten private clouds for customers and continues to roll out more.

Rogoski said, “We only pay for the resources we actually use each month. We estimate that Lenovo TruScale cut the cost of our cloud infrastructure by 50%, an enormous saving.”

A foundation for growth

Another key advantage of Lenovo TruScale is the ability to rapidly acquire the latest hardware, providing a strong foundation for growth. The as-a-Service solution allows RGK4IT to scale its cloud hosting infrastructure by paying a monthly fee based on resource usage, eliminating the need for incremental capital investment. Rogoski describes the scalability of the Lenovo TruScale model as a “huge advantage” and reveals that the company now has ambitious plans to grow rapidly in the region.

Rogoski said, “It enables us to scale quickly and cost-effectively as our customer base grows. We expect to triple in size in the next year, due in large part to increasing demand for Al cloud services, and Lenovo TruScale is a key enabler for our business growth.”
